It's Dress Up Time, Folks!

Lilly, holding the finished wings for Leah.
I love to bookmark links of projects, and hope to at some point actually get around to making them. In my travels, I had come across a tutorial for these dress-up bird wings on Craftzine (posted on Prudent Baby, created by Eri from Llevo el Invierno), and knew I'd be making these for a few little folks I know.

I followed the measurements she provided pretty closely, for the 3 kids I was making them for - Leah (3), Aubrey (a month shy of 3) and my Lilly (15 months). These were so easy to make, and really fun! The hardest part was figuring out what fabrics to use and how to pattern them. Instead of the ribbon (I was out), I used rick-rack, and think it turned out adorably! Here are a few action shots from Leah & Lilly, borrowing Leah's wings. Aubrey has yet to see hers, but I'll add photos when she gets them for her birthday.

I have an almost 2 year old nephew, Michael, who I think would enjoy these as manly owl or eagle wings, made with some pinking shears (read: no scalloped pink flower feathers). I'll be sure to update those as well!

Enjoy!!
