Infinity Scarf with Flower

Saturday, February 9, 2013

My name is Kim, and I am obsessed with scarves. I've made a couple for Lillian, I'm working on one for my niece and I've been wanting a chunky infinity scarf for myself, but I'm not the best knitter and just got sick of knitting for ever and ever. And ever. So I went to Pinterest (of course) and found Nicole from Nicabella's tutorial for her DIY Knitting Loom Infinity Scarf. It's exactly what I wanted, and after reading her directions, I figured a loom would be faster and would require a lot less patience on my end, since I'm not a knitter of any sort.

Her directions were the easiest to follow, I'm not even kidding. I will use my handy loom for so many projects I want to make, because there's no counting stitches, or remembering the patterns. Just loop and go!

I opted to use 18 of my 24 pegs (I used the hot pink rectangle loom), and Caron's One Pound yarn in Off White. I always have anxiety about how many skeins of yarn to get, so I figured the pounder would be safe (and it was, I've got a teeny bit leftover).

She used two strands of yarn, and I ended up doing the same, but attempted a few rows with just one, simply so I could get the feel and concept of what I was going to end up with. If I use a chunky yarn, I'd probably do just the one, but I really love the look and fluff of two thinner pieces.

I finished this scarf in a few hours, closed my ends together with a flat seam, and added a little fabric flower on a safety pin for extra cuteness.

Totally love. Will make more. In every. Single. Color.

I love to wear it doubled up...
Cozy!
Or down low...

Go make one! I can't wait to start my next one!

  1. your scarf looks so cozy and warm! I've thought about giving those knitting looms a try, since I never learned to knit properly. {my verion of knit & purl is a sad sight indeed!} it is nice to hear about your experience with one

  2. Hi Allison! It's super soft & I like that it comes up pretty high up when it's wrapped around twice. The loom I got was from JoAnns and was originally only $10, but I used a 50% off coupon, so it was only $5! It came with the loom hook also, so that was great. I'd definitely suggest giving one a try, this whole scarf only took a few hours. Nothing like instant satisfaction! lol
