DIY Kid Pajamas

Lillian now has a handful of mix-n-match jammies, and they're so adorable! I made 2 night gowns - one from a pair of eyelet curtains, the other from a thrifted pillowcase, a tank top from one of my old tank tops, a romper from an old tank top, and 2 pairs of lounge pants - one from the eyelet curtains and one from a pair of my old lounge pants. They're all adorable, and she loves them, and they seem very comfy for her to run and play in. I can't wait to find more tank tops to make into these rompers, because she's in love with hers. I found some more fabric and old pj's of mine to make into jammies for her, so I'm absolutely going to make more of the 2 piece sets. So addicting! Here are hers...

This eyelet nightgown was made with a rectangle of fabric about twice the width of her chest/belly, and an elastic top and tie shoulders. Since the edge of the fabric was adorable scallops, I used that as the bottom of the nightgown. This is one of my favorites and only took about 20 minutes. Perfect for a nap time crafting project.

These two pieces, the brown tank top and the brown pants, are made from an old ill-fitting tank top that I haven't worn in about 2 years, and old lounge pants that were on clearance from Old Navy for $4 that I never wore because I always thought I was going to take them down a size and hem them (they were about a foot too long...  no wonder they were on clearance! Hello irregular!), but I never did. So I used the legs of the pants to make her new pants, and added an elastic waistband. I didn't bother hemming either piece because it's jersey and it'll just roll itself.

These are the pants from the eyelet curtain, and I again used the bottom edge because it's just too adorable. These are a little tight in the bootie area, but she doesn't seem to care too much. I apparently didn't account for extra-extra diaper area. Oops. But these are also an elastic waistband, and they are just too cute.

This nightie I used the tutorial from Jen at iCandy Handmade for the Pretty Pillowcase PJ's, and though my lace was a little thinner than I'd have preferred, the nightgown turned out so ridiculously cute, and Lilly LOVES it. And I do too. In these photos, we had blackberries... so excuse the juice stains! I have a few more pillowcases & other old shirts to use for this stretch-lace style nightie, and I will be ordering some more stretch lace, because my local store had 0 selection. I can't wait to order some in pretty colors and a little wider. Uber adorable, nonetheless.

These romper jammies I just finished this morning while she was watching Olivia, so they're not as neat and perfect and I'd like, however, they fit perfectly (ok, maybe the straps are too long, but I'm just hoping she grows) and she's still thrilled with them! Detri from The Mother Huddle did the Simple Summer Pajama tutorial, and it's wonderful -- definitely make this! I used an old lace-edged tank top, and left the hemmed bottom as it was on the top and they're crop pants instead of shorts. I had no time to change my needle, don't judge! I have a few other tank tops that will be perfect for this project, and I'm hoping I have just enough lace leftover from the nightgown to add to the top. This was a great project to reuse my old tanks that I never ever wear anymore, and I'm going to be on the hunt for cute fabrics when I'm out and about. I also think I'm going to start hoarding stretch lace.

When I get around to making a few more of these, I'll add some photos! Happy sewing!!
