Perfect Projects for Spring!

Wednesday, March 27, 2013

It's official!! Spring. It's here. I have one crocus that's bloomed in our front yard, and our tulips, daffodils, mums, orchids and tiger lilies are sprouting. Even the rose bush has new growth. I can't wait for some less-crisp air, though Lillian and I have been spending our afternoons lately in the back yard where there's full sun for the better part of the day. Patiently waiting for those mid-50's!

With the arrival of spring, I've made a boatload of things...

I've been a little sewing crazy. Which is different than a usual run of sewing for me - I have no dedicated sewing area anymore since we're moving soon, so when I sew, I sew. I cranked out a bunch of things including new bubble pants, a sundress, hair clips, swaddle blankets and a pair of the TOMs-ish baby shoes for my sister-in-law's niece. Let's take a closer look, because you're going to drool over how cute these are! I still am.

The fabric that started the monster was this polka dot cotton on sale. I had intentions of using it to make Lil's Easter dress, but I changed my mind when I found a dress from Old Navy on sale, that has coral pink and gold flowers on it. Couldn't help it. Mostly because there are gold shoes to match. And a cardigan. What.

So this modern looking polka dot cotton served a sundress purpose as this criss-cross back ruffle dress number and some bubble capri pants...

Lil loves both, and I just can't get over the dress with the cardigan and that flower. Which is actually a hair clip just clipped on the sweater instead of her hair.

Speaking of hair clips, I whipped up a handful of these cuties! I love them, and need to make more...

The TOMs-ish girl shoes are one of my favorites from the past week - I love the fabric I picked out, and I think they just turned out perfect!

Since I am expecting a new baby in June (which I keep having to remind myself this is actually happening and I should probably pull it together relatively soon), I figured I'd start a few swaddle blankets! We've got pearl grey and sunshine yellow to start with...

We're not finding out the sex of the baby (we didn't find out with Lillian either, and I loved it), so I've picked out six colors to make a whole set that'll cover my bases for an Eleanor or Andrew.  I love they all coordinate. I have a coordinating problem.

What projects are you guys making for spring for your little ones? Share with me!! As if I need more ideas :)
